It was rainy today in Seattle (you're shocked, I know...) so while Mimi was taking her nap Z and I made some dog treats.
Our dog loves these treats (although I have to admit, he's not the most reliable reference...he'll eat things that will make your tummy turn) and they are easy for little ones to help make because measurements don't have to be exact.
So grab your handy-dandy helper...
and let's begin!
Other things you'll need:
1 C Oats
1/3 C Melted Butter
1 C Boiling Water
3/4 C Cornmeal
2 Tbsp Granulated Bouillon (we used beef flavor)
1/2 C Milk
1 C Shredded Cheddar
1 C Shredded Carrots (optional)
1 Egg
3 C Flour
1. Preheat oven to 325F. Combine oats, butter and water.
2. Add in cornmeal, sugar, bullion, milk, egg, cheddar and carrots. Add flour one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. The mixture will be a wet dough.
3. Roll out on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thick and cut with your cookie-cutter.
4. Bake for 35-45 minutes, depending on how crispy you want them.
Let them cool and feed to your lucky puppy!
Z kept saying "wow, those treats smell sooo good..." I think he was hinting at something... |
